FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Crew from Harry Potter, James Bond & Broadchurch work on short film directed by 18-year old to support local filmmaking.
After the success of charity awareness short film ‘Imagine’ (2015) which recently passed 530,000 views online – 18-year old filmmaker Carl Mason secured collaborative support from over 20 television and film professionals to produce an ambitious one-take short film to encourage the lack of arts development for young people in Milton Keynes. On Sunday 5th June, the film ‘First Response’ will premiere online, and enter the film festival circuit to compete in international film festivals, as well as planned screenings in Berlin and across the UK.
‘First Response’ (2016) is a one-take short film. Dealing with the aftermath of a gruesome case of domestic violence, two stranded police officers quickly discover the horrific reality of their deadly predicament. The 5-minute short film is a fresh take on the apocalyptic genre, distorting from a familiar British crime thriller to a dark gritty horror flick. Thanks to his previous success with ‘Imagine’, Carl had an outpouring of support from a who’s who of British film and television professionals, including production teams from Harry Potter, James Bond & ITV’s Broadchurch to name a few.
To support the release of the film there will be a Behind-The-Scenes film with exclusive interviews with the industry professionals in question, and a guide of how the film was created from pre-production through to post-production. This guide is to be released as a resource for younger filmmakers, especially within the local community.
Carl said “There is a significant lack of industry filmmaking and arts development for young people, especially within my hometown Milton Keynes, UK. We hope the release of ‘First Response’ as a resource will strike a chord with local councils and schools, that there should be a stronger emphasis on proactive arts development and funding. Working with such a seasoned team of professionals is always a fantastic experience, and it would be great if we could use this film to encourage the younger generations of artists.”
