The final trailer for “It: Chapter Two” is here, and it gives us a closer and more terrifying look at the long-anticipated follow-up to 2017’s “It.” We lay out all the clues, references, and hidden meanings in the trailer, and explain what you can expect from one of 2019’s biggest horror films.
The Warner Bros. “It” movies are based on the classic Stephen King novel by the same title. But the 2017 movie only covered half of the book. The sequel tells the rest of the story, picking up 27 years after the first film. It’s the mid-1980s now, and the Losers Club is all grown up. After Mike sends news that Pennywise has resurfaced, the friends must keep their oath, returning to Derry to defeat the creature once and for all. Based on the trailer, the dancing clown is even more deranged — and dangerous — than before. It also looks like the movie’s plot might diverge from the book in some key ways. We break it all down and answer your burning questions: What happened to Stan? Who’s that guy drowning in the sewers? And is Henry Bowers really dead?
“It: Chapter Two” is directed by Andy Muschietti, and stars Jessica Chastain as a grown-up Beverly Marsh; Bill Hader as Richie Tozier; James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough; Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon; James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak; Andy Bean as Stan Uris; and of course, Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise. Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Lieberher, Chosen Jacobs, and Andy Bean return to play the younger versions of the Losers.
“It: Chapter Two” is slated for release on September 6, 2019.
