Nominated for Best Documentary
Taking inspiration from a statue of dominoes players and the feelings they inspire in passers by this documentary traces dominoes back to its roots via a lively and entertaining dominoes club in London. You are invited to hear the personal stories of some men who are passionate about the game and to consider what the future holds for the game and those that play it. This is a game that anyone can play and one that is, for many people, loaded with cultural history and significance. One thing’s for certain, you’ll never look at a set of dominoes in the same way again.
Filmmakers Aged 15-19
Fresh Docs was a partnership between Into Film and Picturehouse Cinemas. Across seven of their cinema sites, Picturehouse delivered a series of documentary workshops for young people aged 15 to 19 that met Into Film’s guiding principles of See, Think, Make. Imagine. Young people were able to watch and engage with a wide variety of documentaries and were inspired to create their own short documentaries.
Supported by the British Film Institute, Into Film is the UK’s film learning programme for 5-19 year olds, encouraging and enabling watching, making and critical understanding of film.
